Markandeya,Shiva's beloved devotee, is the creator of the MarkandeyaPurana and he gave the world the ‘Mahamrityunjaya Mantra’.The word ‘Mrityu’ means death and ‘Jaya’ means victory. Mrityunjaymeans victory over death.
